Decking in Halifax

Nestled among the rolling hills between Leeds and Manchester, the town of Halifax often goes unnoticed as a potential lure for house-hunters and property enthusiasts. But the bustling conurbation offers an impressive mixture of history, style and progression to attract many different sectors of the housing market.

Halifax built its reputation as a leader of the woollen manufacturing industry in the 15th century, and there are still plenty of reminders of that proud legacy in the town’s architecture, infrastructure and range of period properties. Some of Halifax’s most prominent current buildings originate from that influential past, with Dean Clough – a half mile long retail, leisure and office complex – being renovated from a former textile mill, and the Piece Hall – a public market and magnet for independent arts and craft shops – also a stately remnant of the wool trade.

Of course, Halifax is not just famous for its industrial past, it has a banking heritage as the birthplace of Yorkshire and Halifax Building Societies, a confectionary reputation as the place where Mackintosh originated and an eye for the innovative, as home to the ground-breaking children’s museum Eureka!

Such a diverse, multi-cultural identification is reflected in the range of properties available in Halifax, with traditional stone houses on cobbled streets and modern housing developments mixing with refurbished mill buildings and lofty apartments. The modern regeneration of Halifax has allowed for the characteristic population to be supplemented by a thriving housing market, looking to take prosperous contemporary living out of the big cities.

One of the best ways to advance in the property market in current times is to add value to your property, and there are many ways to do that. Installing decking has been found to be the most cost-effective home improvement in terms of adding value, mainly because it recoups more cost than the outlay on more expensive home improvement projects such as extensions, extra bathrooms or loft conversions.

The benefits of decking don’t end there, however. There is an increasing desire to make a feature of garden space, with people needing facilities to hold parties and barbecues, and decking provides the perfect platform for extending outside. Furthermore, it offers a great extended and safe family space, and also provides dry and flat storage options for garden furniture in the winter.

In addition to the affordable initial installation costs, decking has the added benefit of being easy and quick to install, you can even do it yourself if you so desire. This minimises disruption to the inside of the house, and installing decking won’t rid you of essential services during the process.

Many people prefer the neat, flat lines of decking to the cluttered nature of a landscape garden or the less homely feel of a concrete patio. Certainly decking offers more options in terms of sizing and levels of flat surfaces and also enables you to change colour through paints and stains. Let’s also not forget we are doing our bit for the environment in using natural resources instead of concrete.

As Halifax continues its quest to remain a town offering versatile properties in terms of style, size and affordability, decking plays an important role as a home improvement feature that combines convenience, flexibility and an eye for contemporary design.

CUSTOMER FEEDBACK
"Initial consultation helped tailor what we needed and adapt to our budget. We had raised composite decking across the back of the house and Cameron and Ben did a fantastic job with install. Really professional service, built everything to specification and left everything tidy at the end! "
- Mr Ant Burge, Aintree, Liverpool
"Just had our decking completed by Northern Deckline. We've had quite a bit of work done in the house recently to make it disabled friendly and out of all the trades over the last 4 years, this is the first company who have done what they said they would, on time, no issues and a fabulous end product! Super impressed with our new decking and lovely ramp access to the garden. So much nicer than the big metal wheelchair ramps. Special shout out to Richard who talked us through everything comprehensively and was available to answer questions throughout, to Chris who helped us plan the ramp successfully and to Ash and Steve for such a professional and friendly installation (and didn't mind my 10,000 questions). Would definitely recommend [😊]"
- Paul, Sheffield, South Yorkshire
"Darrell and Martin were very hard-working and professional in removing our wooden decking and replacing with composite material. They were polite and were clearly good craftsmen. We are delighted with the finished decking, and we would be happy to recommend Northern Deckline for any similar work."
- Dr & Mrs Barker, Halifax
"We are extremely pleased with the work done by Ashley and Steve. The decking looks fantastic just how we pictured it and we are getting lots of compliments from neighbours. The lads were always on time, tidied up after themselves and very polite and easy to talk to. The project was quite complicated with lots of little problems to navigate which they did without complaint and to a superb standard."
- Mr. and Mrs. Williams, Barnsley, South Yorkshire
