Batley Decking Installation
There are various different reasons why people contact us with a need for a decking installation. Often it is to replace outdated timber decking with new composite decking, or to tidy up a small impractical area of the garden, sometimes there is a new installation being planned, such as a barbecue area, new outdoor furniture or a hot tub. But this family home in Batley, West Yorkshire, recently contacted us requesting a transformational change of their entire outdoor space and it turned out to be one of our most ambitious decking installations ever.
The ultimate challenge
We were presented with a multi-tiered outdoor space with a relatively steep incline, and a request to include space for various activities within the finished design. It was a challenge which tested the skills of our design team to their fullest, but we rose to the test and insisted on creating a cost-effective design which fully utilised as much space as possible, was safe and practical, used matching features and incorporated all the demands of the design spec. The challenges within the design spec included:
- Three levels to the garden
- A large central pond
- Areas required for storage, seating and activities
Our team set to work and developed a bespoke solution which maximised the space available and created different zones which could all be used in different ways. You can see in this video of the finished design fully installed below, that we have used all our available skills and experience to deliver a stunning finished design.
The installation comprises of light grey composite decking with anthracite posts and matching cladding, with steps between each level and incorporated into a stepped bridge which enables transfer over the large central pond in the middle tier. In order to create boundaries on each level, we have used metal wiring instead of a solid fence. This lavish and spacious design now has areas for entertaining, outdoor dining, sitting and relaxing, storage and a flexible open space for other activities, such as games with the kids or even a bit of DIY. The walkways, steps and flat spaces work seamlessly together to provide a practical and appealing decking solution.
Many years of enjoyment from this outdoor space
Using composite decking means this design will look fresh and appealing for many years to come and will require minimal maintenance in between times. And, while of course we agreed this design with the customer prior to starting the installation, the family were absolutely delighted with the end result. This installation has provided the customer with a flexible space which has modernised their home and added significant value in terms of appeal and practicality. In terms of satisfaction, this resulted in being one of our most successful projects, because it brought transformational change for the family, and meant we were fully extended by a design brief and delivered with a functional and appealing installation which is value for money and will bring many years of enjoyment. This project was completed at the end of May, perfectly timed for the lighter evenings and the endless summer nights to come.
